What is IEX Ireland?

IEX Ireland is an international academic immersion programme based in Dublin, one of Europe’s leading innovation and technology hubs.

Designed for students aged 13 to 17, the programme offers two academic pathways to meet different learning goals: Business English, focused on developing English skills in professional and business contexts, and English as a Foreign Language (EFL), focused on strengthening communication skills in an international environment.

Through specialised classes, cultural experiences, and practical activities, participants develop confidence, independence, and a global perspective while connecting with students from different nationalities.

How can I determine if IEX Ireland is the right programme for my students?

IEX Ireland is an excellent option for students aged 13 to 17 who want to strengthen their English through an international immersion experience.

The programme offers two academic pathways: Business English, focused on business and technology skills, public speaking, presentations, and problem-solving; and English as a Foreign Language (EFL), designed to strengthen listening, writing, speaking, and reading skills.

In addition, staying with local host families provides students with a unique linguistic and cultural immersion experience in Ireland.

Is prior knowledge required to participate?

No previous business knowledge is required. IEX Ireland is designed for students to develop skills and knowledge throughout the programme through academic sessions, projects, and practical activities.

The Business English pathway requires a minimum English level of B1, while the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) pathway is available for all English levels.

Must students travel with their school, or can they participate individually?

IEX Ireland is designed for delegation participation. To join the programme, a minimum group of 10 students accompanied by a Group Leader is required.

What travel documentation is required to participate?

Students must hold a valid passport and provide the required documentation to complete their registration and travel arrangements.

Immigration and visa requirements may vary depending on the participant’s nationality. BEO World does not process visa applications; these must be arranged independently by each family.

Are there any additional costs to consider outside the programme fee?

Flights are quoted separately from the programme cost, and any expenses related to visa applications must be covered by each family.IEX Ireland also offers optional travel extensions at an additional cost. For further details, please contact your representative.

Is any preparation required before joining the programme?

No specific prior preparation is required. Students receive guidance and information before the trip to understand the programme structure and arrive prepared to make the most of the experience.

What are the main differences between the two available pathways (Business English and English as a Foreign Language – EFL)?

Business English focuses on developing skills for business and technology environments, strengthening public speaking, report writing, presentations, problem-solving, and collaborative work, all conducted in English. This pathway requires a minimum English level of B1.

English as a Foreign Language (EFL) focuses on strengthening listening, writing, speaking, and reading skills, while expanding academic and conversational vocabulary. This pathway is available for all English levels.

How are host families selected for student accommodation?

Host families undergo a careful verification and selection process conducted by our local partners in Ireland. The process evaluates home safety, willingness to welcome international students, and commitment to providing a warm and supportive environment throughout their stay.

When is the assigned host family announced to each student?

Approximately two weeks before departure.
