Leading the Ascent – Bogotá 2025

On 25 September, BEO World had the privilege of welcoming twelve leading schools from Bogotá and Venezuela for a day of inspiration and reflection centred around one of the most powerful concepts in modern education: the growth mindset.

A Journey to Transform Learning

The event, titled “Leading the Ascent,” brought together school directors, coordinators, and interns to explore how we can empower students to develop leadership, critical thinking, and resilience. The session was designed as an immersive journey, symbolized by a mountain climb, with each stage representing a new step in learning.

Through dynamic group activities, participants experienced first-hand how BEO World helps students to step outside their comfort zones and reach new heights in their learning.

What is Growth Mindset?

As defined by the University of Texas at Austin, a growth mindset is the belief that intellectual abilities are not fixed, but can be developed over time through effort, strategy, perseverance, and reflection.

This mindset transforms the way we perceive failure: instead of viewing it as a setback, we begin to see it as valuable information and an opportunity for improvement. It encourages both educators and students to embrace challenges, remain motivated, and pursue lifelong learning.

Practical Tools for Educators

Throughout the session, we shared a variety of practical strategies to help educators nurture this mindset in their classrooms, including:

  • Modeling growth mindset behaviors as teachers.

  • Encouraging student agency to take ownership of their learning.

  • Providing feedback based on effort, not solely on performance.

  • Creating safe spaces for making mistakes and learning from them.

  • Building school-wide networks for collaboration and support.

Participants also worked in teams to analyze classroom scenarios and determine whether they reflected a growth mindset. Together, they discussed approaches to implement or enhance these strategies in their own schools.

Rethinking Education with Purpose

More than a methodology, this event offered to reconnect with our mission as educators: to keep students engaged, to celebrate their learning process, and to foster strong bonds between schools and families through meaningful experiences, such as international education.

At BEO World, we believe empowered educators lead empowered students. When schools are equipped with the right tools, mindset, and global perspective to support their communities, the impact is long-lasting.

This is Just the Beginning

“Leading the Ascent” was more than a workshop, it was a call to action. A reminder that the climb is ongoing, and that together, we can build an education system that is courageous, collaborative, and globally connected.

We are truly grateful to the schools that joined us in Bogotá, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you.
